Bailey Sutherland just graduated with her鈥疊achelor of Commerce from Saint Mary鈥檚.鈥淚 had such an amazing experience. The professors are so attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful, the class sizes are small, the campus is a perfect size, and everyone is so friendly.鈥濃疍uring her undergrad, Bailey was part of the Saint Mary鈥檚 Habitat for Humanity Society for three years, volunteering at local build sites in greater Halifax as well as in the southern United States.鈥疭he also volunteered extensively at the campus Women鈥檚 Centre, at local women鈥檚 shelter鈥疉dsum鈥疕ouse, and at Out of the Cold homeless shelter.鈥
Bailey worked on the front lines of COVID-19 from March to July at an emergency pop-up homeless shelter for men in Halifax, helping keep this vulnerable population healthy.鈥疎ven though the pandemic鈥痙ramatically鈥痗hanged鈥痟er student experience, she鈥檚 excited to take on the challenge of her MBA.鈥疉fter she completes her MBA, Bailey plans鈥痶o鈥痯ursue a law degree in鈥疎ngland.鈥
鈥淚t is no exaggeration to say that this scholarship will change my life,鈥 she says.鈥淪tudying to get my鈥疢BA鈥痑nd come out of it with no debt is not something many people can say鈥斺痚specially during the current global climate, where many people鈥檚 financial situations were severely impacted by COVID-19. I have so much gratitude...鈥濃
