Alexander Bourque comes to the MBA program at the Sobey School of Business from a somewhat unusual background: chemistry. After graduation, he plans to combine his experience as a research scientist with his freshly honed leadership and business skills to win a leadership role in a multinational corporation. 鈥淭he objective is to lead a team of scientific researchers in the field of chemical research and development, to provide valuable real-world experience and knowledge to my team members, and to help bridge the gap between technical expertise and business/operations expertise,鈥 he explains.鈥
The son of a Saint Mary鈥檚 alumnus, Alexander looks forward to joining the ranks of Sobey scholars.鈥淚 would like to offer my deepest gratitude to the Sobey鈥疐amily,鈥疶he Sobey Foundation,鈥痑nd Sobeys Inc.鈥痜or supporting the business school at SMU for nearly 30 years,鈥痜or providing the endowment for the Sobey MBA鈥疭cholarships, and for creating opportunities for people鈥 in the Maritime provinces,鈥痟e says. 鈥淏oth my mom and sister worked for Sobeys when I was younger.鈥濃疘n addition to the Impact Fund and Venture Grade鈥疭tudent Investment鈥疐und, he plans to join the鈥疌hemistry鈥疭ociety and maybe an intramural sports team or two.
